Chess (100 word story)

I sat in my father’s office, a small box lay on the desk.  I opened it, and inside found a marble chess piece.  I held the King in my hand, and remembered the lessons taught.

Your first move is key.
Every decision is important.
Protect your queen, she is strong and will protect you.
Plan for the future.
You will make mistakes, learn from them.
Loss is inevitable and sacrifice is crucial.
Every game ends, but that doesn’t mean you stop playing.

A note lay within the box.  There was a reason he taught me this game.
