Umbrella

Share an umbrella with me.  I’ll protect you from the rain, and keep you safe from the storm.

And tomorrow, I’ll feed you chicken noodle soup.  Because you’ll get sick.  Because you didn’t want to share that umbrella with me.  Instead, you said, “I want to dance in the rain” because no one dances in the rain except in movies.  So we danced.

And jumped in puddles; and got our socks wet.  And closed our eyes, listening to the sounds of the rain, it sounded like a round of applause.  And when it came down even harder, I stood centre stage and kissed you to a standing ovation.

Tomorrow, I’ll feed you chicken noodle soup.

But right now, I’ll ask you to share this umbrella with me, because the rain can’t stop me from falling in love with you today.
